Social distance dance

In the first days of the COVID-19 pandemic in New York, social distancing measures were implemented to slow the spread of the virus. These measures were put in place to reduce the number of people who could potentially contract or spread the virus, as it was not yet fully understood how it was transmitted or how severe the outbreak would become.

The impact of these measures on daily life in New York was significant. The streets were eerily quiet, with many people working from home or losing their jobs. Public transportation was running on reduced schedules, and many people avoided using it altogether. Grocery stores and pharmacies remained open, but with restrictions on the number of customers allowed inside at any given time.

While social distancing measures helped to slow the spread of the virus, they also had a significant impact on the social and economic fabric of the city.
